Handplane

Our handplanes are shaped from light, sustainable paulownia wood and finished with a coat of tung oil (unless otherwise specified) to bring out the natural character of the grain. Small in size but big in impact, they’re designed to connect you more closely with the sea, making each bodysurfing session smooth, fluid, and full of fun.

Models: Choose from 3 handplane shapes, each designed for different wave conditions and styles.

Details: Personalize your handplane with one of three finishes:

  1. Urushi coating — A deep, dark sheen created with Japanese natural lacquer from the urushi tree. Naturally anti-pest, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial, it makes the handplane waterproof and durable.

  2. Paint design — Unique blue-toned patterns, inspired by the movement and hues of the ocean.

  3. Wood marquetry — Intricate, handcrafted inlays combining different hardwoods; every piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Concave: Add channels for improved speed and control, or keep it smooth for a more classic ride.

Each handplane is hand-shaped and truly one of a kind, defined by craftsmanship and the natural character of its wood — yours may look a little different from the photos.

Handle Strap Round and Fish

These smaller handplanes are built for hollow, fast waves and are especially good for surfing shore breaks. Compact in size, they are quick and responsive, with a neoprene handle strap for a secure, comfortable grip in the water.

With the smaller handle strap handplanes, your posture naturally adjusts - your arm extends perpendicular to your body, giving you better control while riding hollow, powerful waves.

Handle Hole Fish

Designed for mellow waves, this handplane offers a smooth, flowing glide. Slightly longer than the Handle Strap models, it enhances stability and helps you maintain flow and control. With the handle hole design, your arm naturally extends forward, allowing a natural glide along the wave.
